ECAT (Engineering College Admission Test) is the standard entry test for engineering programmes at NED University, UET Lahore, UET Taxila, BZU Multan and other public engineering universities. NUST runs its own NET (National Engineering Aptitude Test) and GIKI has its own test — but all three test Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English in a similar MCQ format. Standard ECAT covers Physics (25 marks), Chemistry (25 marks), Mathematics (30 marks) and English (20 marks) — 100 marks total, all MCQ. GIKI, NED and UET Lahore have wrapped their 2026 admission cycles — GIKI's test ran 6-10 Jul with results out 23 Jul, NED's merit list was announced 16 Jul, and UET's ECAT Phase 2 result came out 23 Jun. None have announced 2027 dates yet; PIEAS is in the same position after its second test on 12 Jul. NUST NET-4, the final round for Fall 2026 admissions, is still wrapping up — its last sitting (Quetta) runs 27-28 Jul, though registration closed 8 Jun. Air University and COMSATS are still accepting applications: Air University's Phase II & III close 31 Jul (test 10 Aug), while COMSATS is open at its Abbottabad, Wah, Attock, Vehari and Sahiwal campuses through 6-14 Aug. Always verify on each university's official admissions portal before registering.

NUST runs four rounds of its National Engineering Aptitude Test (NET) each year, and NET-4 was the final round for the 2026 admissions cycle — its last test sitting (Quetta) runs 27-28 Jul, though registration closed back on 8 Jun. If you missed NET-4 registration, there's no other NUST entry point for 2026; NET-1 for the next cycle hasn't been announced yet, so start prepping now to be ready the moment it opens.
