Saturated Solution
When small amount of solute is dissolved in a solvent, it dissolves easily. But if addition of solute is kept on a stage is reached where solvent cannot dissolve more solute in it. At this stage, if further amount of solute will be added to the solution it will remain undissolved and settles down. Such a solution is said to be saturated solution. Which can be defined as follows:
A solution which cannot dissolve more solute in it at a particular temperature is called a saturated solution.
Unsaturated Solution
A solution which contains lesser amount of solute than it is required to saturate it at a particular temperature, is called unsaturated solution. Unsaturated solution has the ability to dissolve more solute to become a saturated solution.
Supersaturated Solution
On heating the saturated solution develops capacity to dissolve further solute in it. The solution which contains more solute than the saturated solution due to heating is called a supersaturated solution.
