Linear Equations And Inequalities

Linear equation with rational coefficient

Math

Linear equations with rational coefficient are very easy to solve. There are some steps that needs to be followed.

For example:

Q # 1: Solve 5x7=35x - 7= 3

Solution:

First of all write the equation

5x7=35x - 7= 3

Then separate the variable on one side and constant on other side.

5x=3+75x = 3+7

Do the basic arithmetic

5x=105x= 10

Divide the coefficient of variable on both side.

5x5=105\frac{5x}{5}=\frac{10}{5}

x=2x=2

There is the solution set written as

Solution Set = {2}

Q # 2: Solve 32(x+2)=5x4+5\frac{3}{2}(x+2)=\frac{5x}{4}+5

Solution:

In this question only one additional step of solving the bracket will occurs

3x2+3=5x4+5\frac{3x}{2}+3=\frac{5x}{4}+5

All other steps are same

3x25x4=53\frac{3x}{2}-\frac{5x}{4}=5-3

x2=2\frac{x}{2}=2

x=2×2x=2\times2

x=4x=4

Solution set ={4}= \{4\}
