Table for pair of values

In linear equation of two variables, constructing a table of pair of values that satisfy the linear equation can be explained as follows:

  1. First of all arrange the linear equation in a way that one variable is on one side and other variable on another side.

    • Let x+y=5x+y=5x+y=5 can be changed as y=5−xy=5-xy=5−x

  2. Now put random or in order integers in the x to find the value of y an it will give an order pair for the linear equation.

    • Lets put x=0x=0x=0 y=5−(0)y=5-(0)y=5−(0) y=5y=5y=5 (0,5)(0,5)(0,5) is the order pair.

  3. Repeat the same process for different values.

Plotting the pair of values

Plotting the pair of values of a linear equation is similar to that of the shape plotting points.

  1. First choose an appropriate scale for the graph.

    • In this case the largest number in X is 3 and Y is 8.

    • Scale: On X-axis 1 unit= 5 small squares/ On Y-axis 1 unit= 5 small squares.

  2. Then plot all the given pairs of the linear equation.

  3. Join the points

  4. Note: If all the points are not joining by the same linear line it means that the table of pairs contain some errors.
