Differences between Metals, Non-Metals, and Metalloids

Chemistry

Metals

Metals are elements that typically have a shiny appearance, are good conductors of heat and electricity, are malleable and ductile, and tend to form positive ions.

Non-Metals

Non-metals are elements that typically have a dull appearance, are poor conductors of heat and electricity, are brittle and not ductile, and tend to form negative ions.

Metalloids

Metalloids are elements that have properties of both metals and non-metals. They have intermediate conductivity, can be shiny or dull, and can be ductile and malleable to some extent.
