The FAST-NUCES formula combines three components with fixed weightages.
SSC — 10%
Matriculation
FSc — 40%
Intermediate
Test — 50%
FAST / NAT / SAT
SSC: (obtained ÷ total) × 10
FSc: (obtained ÷ total) × 40
Test: (score ÷ max score) × 50
Aggregate = SSC + FSc + Test
FAST Entry Test: max 100
NTS NAT: max 100
SAT: max 1600

Frequently Asked Questions — FAST Aggregate Calculator
The FAST-NUCES aggregate (also called FAST merit) is calculated using three components: 10% from Matriculation (SSC) marks, 40% from Intermediate (FSc/HSSC) marks, and 50% from your entry test score (FAST Entry Test, NTS NAT, or SAT). Each component is converted to a percentage of its maximum, multiplied by its weightage, and the three contributions are summed to give your final merit score out of 100. This merit score is what FAST uses to rank applicants on the merit list.
FAST-NUCES accepts three entry tests: (1) The FAST Entry Test — conducted by FAST itself, out of 100. (2) NTS NAT-I or NAT-IE — out of 100. (3) SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) — out of 1600. All three are accepted for most programs, but availability may vary by campus and intake. The calculator supports all three test types.
For BS Computer Science at FAST Islamabad, a 75%+ aggregate is generally considered safe. For FAST Lahore, approximately 73% is the typical cutoff, and for FAST Karachi, around 70%. These cutoffs vary year to year based on the applicant pool and available seats. Applying with a FAST Entry Test score rather than NTS/SAT can sometimes improve your position on the merit list.
Aggregate = (SSC Obtained ÷ SSC Total × 10) + (FSc Obtained ÷ FSc Total × 40) + (Test Score ÷ Max Test Score × 50). The maximum possible aggregate is 100%. For the FAST Entry Test and NTS NAT, the max score is 100. For SAT, the max is 1600.
Eligibility varies by program. For BS Engineering and CS: at least 60% in both SSC and HSSC, with Physics, Math, and Chemistry or Computer Science as subjects. For BBA and Accounting/Finance programs: at least 50% in HSSC from any academic stream. A-Level and international students must provide IBCC equivalence certificates.
Yes. FAST typically releases multiple merit lists based on seat availability. If you are on the waiting list after the first merit list, you may be offered admission in subsequent rounds if enrolled students decline their seats. Checking the FAST admissions portal regularly is recommended.
No. FAST (Foundation for Advancement of Science and Technology, formally NUCES) and NUST (National University of Sciences and Technology) are two entirely separate universities. FAST is a private-sector university known for CS and business programs, while NUST is a public university offering engineering, computing, and more. Each has its own admission test, merit criteria, and fee structure.
For BS Electrical Engineering, a 68%+ aggregate is typically competitive. For BS Software Engineering, aim for 72%+ at major campuses. Civil Engineering cutoffs generally sit around 65%. These are indicative figures — actual merit cutoffs are published by each campus after applications close and can shift based on the applicant pool each year.
Yes. A-Level students are eligible for FAST admissions. You must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), which converts your A-Level grades to FSc equivalent marks. Enter those equivalent marks into the calculator above to estimate your aggregate.
The FAST merit list is the ranked list of applicants for each program, generated from aggregate/merit scores. FAST typically announces the first merit list within 2–3 weeks after the entry test results are released. Subsequent merit lists (second, third, and waiting list) are announced over the following weeks as enrolled students confirm or decline their seats. You can check your status on the official FAST admissions portal.
Closing merit varies by program and campus because each campus has separate seat allocations. For BS Computer Science: FAST Islamabad closed around 75%, Lahore around 73%, and Karachi around 70%. For BS Software Engineering: roughly 72% at major campuses. For BS Electrical Engineering: around 68%. Civil Engineering closing merit was approximately 65%. Peshawar, Chiniot-Faisalabad, and Multan campuses generally have lower cutoffs than the three main campuses. These figures shift year-to-year based on applicant volume and seat availability, so treat them as indicative rather than guaranteed.
FAST conducts two intakes per year: Fall (main intake, applications open around April–May, entry test in June–July) and Spring (smaller intake, applications around October–November). Exact dates are published on nu.edu.pk each cycle. We recommend checking the official admissions portal and registering early to avoid late fees.
FAST tuition fees vary by program and campus. For BS programs, semester fees typically range from PKR 150,000 to PKR 180,000, with engineering and CS programs at the higher end. There is also a one-time admission fee and a security deposit at the time of enrollment. Need-based financial aid, merit scholarships, and Ehsaas scholarships are available for eligible students. Check the official FAST fee schedule for the exact current figures.
The FAST Entry Test (NU Test) is out of 100 and covers four sections: Mathematics (most weightage), English, Analytical Reasoning / IQ, and either Physics (for engineering programs) or Computer Science basics (for CS-related programs). The test is MCQ-based with a duration of around 2 hours. There is no negative marking. Sample papers and past patterns are available on the FAST admissions portal.
Yes. FAST-NUCES is a fully chartered university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. All FAST degrees are HEC-attested and recognized internationally for further studies and employment.
