IBA Karachi Admission Test 2027 — Syllabus, Dates & Paper Pattern

IBA 2027 Test Format & Paper Pattern
One paper-based test, English and Mathematics, marked out of 360 — 180 for each subject, as shown on IBA's official result sheets. Test-takers report 45 MCQs per subject at 4 marks each; IBA itself doesn't publish the question count or test duration, and reserves the right to change the pattern. Candidates who clear the test move on to interviews for Business programs and BS Math. IBA 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Minimum academic requirements vary by program. For A Levels, AS/subsidiary papers don't count, at most one D is allowed, and E/U grades aren't accepted.
- ✓HSSC: minimum 65%
- ✓A Levels: average 2Bs + 1C, ≥ 8 points in 3 principal subjects (max one D, no E/U)
- ✓US/Canadian diploma: 80%+ or IB 25/45
- ✓HSSC (Pre-Engineering or General with Math): minimum 60%
- ✓A Levels: 1B + 2Cs, ≥ 7 points — Math mandatory
- ✓Diploma 80% or IB 24
- ✓HSSC: minimum 60%
- ✓A Levels: 1B + 2Cs, ≥ 7 points, max one D
- ✓US/Canadian diploma: 80%+ or IB 24/45
Applying with SAT or ACT instead?
There's no guaranteed exemption — only top scorers on IBA's SAT/ACT merit list get direct admission or an interview call, so IBA strongly recommends sitting its own test too.

One test, but apply to each school separately
IBA runs a single common aptitude test across Business Studies, Math & Computer Science, and Economics & Social Sciences — so you can apply to all three with one test. But each school requires its own application and fee, and you can't switch schools after results unless you already applied (and paid) for that school too.

Mathematics follows IBA's official “Recommended Topics for the Undergraduate Mathematics Section” — all 34 topics, grouped below. IBA doesn't publish an English syllabus, so the English topics are mapped from its official sample papers.

Applying for BSCS or BS Math?
IBA also publishes a separate, harder entry-test syllabus for its Mathematics & Computer Science school, at Intermediate / A-Level depth. IBA hasn't said whether the new common test replaces it, so cover these too if you're applying there.
What Happens After the Test?
Clearing the aptitude test is just step one. The process differs by program.
Aptitude Test
English + Math, out of 360. IBA sets cut-offs per subject and in total for each round — in Fall 2026 Round 1 the CS & Math school needed 76 in each subject and 204 overall.
Group Discussion & Interview — BBA / BSACF / BSBA
Shortlisted Business applicants sit a group discussion followed by an interview. Round 1 interviews run 1–8 Jan 2027 (dates subject to change).
Interview — BS Mathematics
BS Math applicants are interviewed too — 1–2 Jan 2027 for Round 1. There's no interview for BSCS or the Economics & Social Sciences programs (BSECO, BSEM, BSEDS, BSSS).
Final Result & Admission Package
Round 1 final results: 8 Jan 2027 (CS & Math) and 12 Jan 2027 (Business). The admission package with your offer letter and fee challan follows on 12 Feb 2027. IBA doesn't publish a weightage formula.
