MDCAT 2027: Test Date, Registration & PMDC Updates

PMDC has not announced the MDCAT 2027 date yet. MDCAT 2026 was held on 20 September 2026 โ€” last year's full timeline is below for reference, and we update this page as soon as PMDC announces 2027. Maqsad is an online MDCAT preparation platform with 45,000+ enrolled students, offering daily live classes, 15,000+ MCQs and weekly mock tests; a demo class is available.

MDCAT 2027 Date

๐Ÿ“ข

MDCAT 2027 may come earlier than usual. PMDC has said MDCAT will move closer to the FSc exams from 2027 (reports say within six days to one month of them). This is not yet confirmed in an official PMDC notice.

What is MDCAT?

MDCAT stands for the Medical and Dental College Admission Testโ€” Pakistan's national entry test for MBBS and BDS programs, conducted by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). Every public and private medical college in Pakistan requires a valid MDCAT score for admission โ€” there is no alternative route.

It is one of the most competitive exams in the country โ€” around 200,000 students sit MDCAT every year competing for approximately 4,000 MBBS seats across public medical colleges. The test measures subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning โ€” as well as problem-solving and critical thinking under strict time pressure.

Maqsad is one of Pakistan's leading online MDCAT preparation platforms โ€” offering daily live classes, 15,000+ MCQs and weekly mock tests to help students compete for these seats, with 45,000+ enrolled students and 2500+ university admissions.

MDCAT 2027 Date

When is MDCAT 2027?

PMDC has not announced the MDCAT 2027 date yet. PMDC has said that from 2027, MDCAT will be held much closer to the FSc exams (reports say within six days to one month of them), so the 2027 test may come earlier than the usual Augustโ€“October window. This is not yet confirmed in an official PMDC notice.

For reference: PM&DC first set MDCAT 2026 for 16 August 2026, then rescheduled it on 6 August 2026. It was held on Sunday, 20 September 2026 across all provinces of Pakistan, with online registration from 22 June 2026 at mdcat.pmdc.pk.

MDCAT registration by province & domicile

MDCAT is one national exam and the exam date is the same in every province (in 2026, it was 20 September). But admissions are run province-wise: you register under your province of domicile and compete for that region's seats. For example, UHS handles MDCAT registration and admissions for Punjab, KMU for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and DUHS/JSMU for Sindh โ€” the authority for each region is listed below.

PunjabUHS
SindhDUHS / JSMU
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK)KMU
BalochistanBUMHS
Islamabad / FederalSZABMU
Azad Kashmir (AJK)AJKMC

Domicile rule: Candidates may only appear in MDCAT in their province or region of domicile โ€” except candidates with a Sindh domicile, who may also select a test centre in Islamabad. The city/centre once selected cannot be changed.

The syllabus itself is identical everywhere โ€” see the MDCAT syllabus by province.

MDCAT Syllabus

What's in the MDCAT Syllabus?

2027 syllabus not yet published

PMDC has not yet published the MDCAT 2027 syllabus. Until it does, the MDCAT 2026 syllabus โ€” Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Logical Reasoning at FSc Pre-Medical level โ€” is the best guide, and we will update this page if anything changes.

Common Mistakes

Mistakes to avoid in MDCAT prep

200,000 students sit MDCAT every year for ~4,000 MBBS seats. Most who don't make it on the first attempt repeat the same three mistakes.

Not taking mock tests

Regularly attempt timed full-length mocks to practice recall under pressure โ€” knowing content isn't enough.

Too many resources

Buying five different books leads to confusion and panic. Pick one trusted source and complete it fully.

Ignoring the paper pattern

Concepts alone won't save you. Stay current on PMDC's format โ€” 180 MCQs, 3 hours, subject weightings.

What should you do right now?

  • MDCAT 2027 may come soon after your FSc exams โ€” start preparing now rather than waiting for the date
  • Plan for the 180-MCQ, 3-hour format used in MDCAT 2026 until PMDC confirms the 2027 pattern
  • Prioritise high-weightage subjects: Biology (81), Chemistry (45), Physics (36)
  • Take at least one full-length mock test per week under timed conditions
  • Bookmark this page โ€” we update it as soon as PMDC makes any announcement

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most searched MDCAT 2027 questions โ€” updated as official announcements come in.

PMDC has not announced the MDCAT 2027 date yet. In 2026, PMDC said MDCAT will move much closer to the FSc exams (reports say within six days to one month of them) starting from MDCAT 2027, so the 2027 test may come earlier than the usual Augustโ€“October window. This change has not yet been confirmed in an official PMDC notice. We will update this page as soon as PMDC announces the date.

MDCAT 2026 was held on Sunday, 20 September 2026 across Pakistan. PMDC first set it for 16 August 2026, then rescheduled it on 6 August 2026. Registration ran from 22 June to 13 July 2026 (regular fee), with a late-fee window until 18 July 2026.

PMDC has not announced MDCAT 2027 registration dates yet. For reference, MDCAT 2026 registration opened on 22 June 2026 and closed on 13 July 2026 (18 July with a late fee). If MDCAT 2027 moves closer to the FSc exams as reported, registration may open earlier than last year. Registration is done online at mdcat.pmdc.pk.

Possibly. In 2026, PMDC announced a policy to hold MDCAT soon after the FSc exams instead of months later, and reports say it applies from MDCAT 2027. Reports differ on the exact gap (six days to one month), and PMDC has not yet published an official 2027 schedule. If it goes ahead, students will have far less time between FSc and MDCAT, so starting preparation early matters more than ever.

PMDC has not published MDCAT 2027 eligibility rules yet. For MDCAT 2026, candidates needed at least 60% marks in HSSC (FSc Pre-Medical) or an equivalent qualification, with Biology and Chemistry as mandatory subjects (plus either Physics or Mathematics), and a valid CNIC or B-Form. Candidates under 18 needed a JRC (Juvenile Registration Certificate). There was no age limit and no attempt limit.

MDCAT 2026 had 180 MCQs to be completed in 3 hours on a paper-based OMR sheet: Biology (81), Chemistry (45), Physics (36), English (9) and Logical Reasoning (9). Each correct answer earned +1 mark, with no negative marking. PMDC has not yet confirmed the MDCAT 2027 paper pattern.

PMDC has not announced the MDCAT 2027 fee yet. For reference, the MDCAT 2026 fee for test centres in Pakistan was PKR 9,000 (regular) and PKR 13,000 (late). For the international test centre (Riyadh) it was PKR 45,000 (regular) and PKR 55,000 (late). Fees were non-refundable and non-transferable.

For MDCAT 2026 you needed: (1) CNIC or B-Form, (2) a recent passport-sized photograph, (3) SSC (Matric) certificate and marksheet, (4) HSSC (FSc Pre-Medical) certificate and marksheet, (5) your domicile certificate, and (6) a JRC (Juvenile Registration Certificate) if under 18. Candidates with foreign qualifications such as O Level or A Level also needed an IBCC equivalence certificate. Expect a similar list for MDCAT 2027, and check PMDC's notice once it is published.

MDCAT registration is done entirely online โ€” there is no in-person submission. Once PMDC opens registration, go to the official portal, create an account with your CNIC or B-Form, fill in your personal and academic details, select your province and test city, upload the required documents, pay the registration fee, and submit the form. Download your acknowledgement slip and, closer to the exam, your admit card.

The official MDCAT registration portal is mdcat.pmdc.pk. It is the only authorised platform for the MDCAT application form โ€” there is no third-party registration site. The portal opens only when PMDC announces registration for the year.

Yes. For MDCAT 2026, a domicile certificate was required and it determined where you sat the exam and which seats you competed for. Candidates could only appear in their province or region of domicile โ€” the one exception was Sindh-domicile candidates, who could also choose a test centre in Islamabad. Merit lists are calculated separately per province, while the syllabus and exam are identical nationwide.

Yes. A-Level, O-Level, IB and other foreign-qualification candidates are eligible for MDCAT, but you must obtain an IBCC equivalence certificate before filling the registration form. The IBCC certificate converts your foreign grades into Pakistan's SSC/HSSC equivalent, which is required both to register for MDCAT and for medical college merit lists.

PMDC has not yet published the MDCAT 2027 syllabus. Until it does, the MDCAT 2026 syllabus is the best guide: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Logical Reasoning at HSSC (FSc Pre-Medical) level. A full topic-by-topic breakdown is available on the Maqsad MDCAT syllabus hub, and we will update it if PMDC makes changes for 2027.

For MDCAT 2026, the passing marks were 99 out of 180 (55%) for MBBS and 90 out of 180 (50%) for BDS. Passing does not guarantee admission โ€” competitive public medical colleges such as King Edward Medical University (KEMU) and Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) have very high merit, often above 90% aggregate, so aim well above the minimum.

A PMDC MDCAT score is valid for three years from the date of the exam, under Section 17 of the PM&DC Act 2022. So an MDCAT 2026 score (20 September 2026) can be used for the 2026, 2027 and 2028 admission cycles. You can re-sit MDCAT โ€” there is no attempt limit โ€” and use your highest score within the validity window. Note: the NUMS entry test is separate and is valid for one year only.

Top scorers typically prepare for 8โ€“12 months with a structured plan: daily 4โ€“6 hours of study, concept-first learning for Biology and Chemistry, 100+ MCQs per day, and weekly full-length mock tests under timed conditions. With MDCAT 2027 possibly moving closer to the FSc exams, it is worth preparing for both alongside each other rather than waiting until FSc is over. Maqsad's MDCAT batch offers daily live classes Monโ€“Fri, 15,000+ MCQs with explanations, weekly mock tests and Pakistan's top MDCAT teachers. You can attend a demo class to see if it's right for you.

Most students now prepare through a structured online program rather than self-study alone. Maqsad is one of Pakistan's top-rated online MDCAT preparation platforms, with daily live classes Monโ€“Fri, 15,000+ MCQs with explanations, weekly full-length mock tests, and Pakistan's top MDCAT teachers โ€” accessible from any city. Maqsad students have scored 165+/180, with 2500+ university admissions to date.
