Frequently Asked Questions โ NED Aggregate Calculator
Under NED Universityโs revised 2025/26 policy, the aggregate uses a 40/60 weightage: 40% from your HSC / Intermediate (FSc) marks and 60% from your Pre-Admission Entry Test score. Each component is converted to a percentage of its total, multiplied by its weight, then summed. Because the entry test carries 60% of the weight, it is the most impactful component of your aggregate.
It refers to NEDโs revised merit weightage for 2025/26: 60% Pre-Admission Entry Test + 40% Intermediate (HSC). NED increased the entry test weightage from earlier years in response to lower intermediate pass rates, making strong test performance the single most effective lever for improving your NED merit.
High-demand programs like Software Engineering, Computer Science and Computer Systems Engineering typically close around 80โ86%. Most core engineering programs (Electrical, Electronic, Telecom, Mechanical) close around 70โ78%, while disciplines such as Civil, Chemical, Petroleum, Metallurgical and Textile close lower. These are indicative figures โ closing merits vary every year with the applicant pool.
No. NEDโs merit formula does not include Matric (SSC) marks. The aggregate is built only from your HSC / Intermediate (FSc) marks (40%) and your Pre-Admission Entry Test score (60%). You do, however, still need to meet the minimum matric eligibility requirement to apply.
For Engineering, Architecture and Computer Science programs, NED requires a minimum of 57% marks in HSC Part 1 (or O/A-Level equivalent) to be eligible for the entry test, and the candidate must ultimately secure a minimum of 60% overall in HSC. Meeting the minimum makes you eligible โ your final placement still depends on your aggregate merit.
The NED Pre-Admission Entry Test has 100 MCQs in total โ Mathematics (25), Physics (25), Chemistry (25) and English (25). There is no negative marking and calculators are allowed, so attempt every question. Your test score out of 100 feeds directly into the 60% test component of the aggregate.
